Hardly Credible

It's like BP is run by a bunch of twelve year olds...

This article discussed the recent comments made by the new BP CEO Robert Dudley about the media's coverage of the gulf oil spill. It is amazing to me that a CEO would find it appropriate to make such comments.
Were it me, I would kindly/genuinely thank the media for their coverage, admitting that there had been some grievous safety missteps. The company doesn't seem to realize or care the gravity of the situation, nor do they seem to be concerned with the impact it's had on the general public. This company needs to practice some sound PR: tell the media/public that they are serious, and then demonstrate their seriousness with their actions.
Pointing out that the media may have "overblown" the situation with its coverage will only alienate and anger an already alienated and angry public.
