Privacy and such...

Today’s discussion is on social media, First Amendment and Privacy...
The first article I read was impressively boring for the subject matter. The author surveyed over 12,000 high school students across the nation and over 900 high school teachers...he then wrote an article about it expressing his joy for the respect our youngsters have for the First Amendment saying, “Fully 91 percent of students who use social networking to get news and information on a daily basis believe people should be allowed to express unpopular opinions.” WTH, people? This is America, I’m disappointed this number is anything less than 100 percent. Who am I, or anyone else, to dictate who or what can be discussed? I feel like I was very heated on this subject and then I just lost my steam...Anyway, according to the article, courts across our nation are deeming social media to be appropriate for First Amendment defense...so, that’s good. My question to the people who would in any way limit the speech of others: Do you value free speech? Do you think free speech is worth defending? When we start limiting free speech, here a little, there a little, at what point do we say ‘ok, that’s enough, now I’m comfortable with the amount of freedom people have with their speech’...Let’s just chill a bit and take a look at the big picture.
Now, on to privacy...Turns out Facebook is all about invasion of privacy...they track your browsing history and even people who deactivate their account may still be under surveillance...so...what do you expect from a service that provides you with free social media on a daily basis? Well, it’s not like they’re being nice by providing free service, they are making boatloads of money from ads/whatnot, they know that if they offered their service for free that many people would leave...they don’t really have much choice...just sayin. I don’t think they have the right, nor should their actions be excused. People have a reasonable expectation of privacy and Facebook, from a business standpoint would do well to mind user privacy...
